We know that the βTips for washing your car correctlyβ section is your favorite section on TikTok , and that is why we have decided to compile some of your questions and answer them. And what better way to do it than in our weekly Blog.
It's the perfect opportunity for you to grab a pen and paper π and learn how to get the most out of cleaning your vehicle with these small changes to your detailing routine, which will make it completely better without having to invest in hundreds of more products.
1. DO NOT USE THE ROLLER CAR WASH - USE SPECIFIC PRODUCTS
We've all been to a car wash with rollers at some point. But don't hide from it, the important thing is to accept it! As you get deeper into the world of detailing, you'll have realized that if you care about your bodywork, mirrors, headlights or even the antenna of your car, it's not a good option. π«
Of course, car washes have obvious advantages such as saving water and time or the convenience of cleaning, but if the rollers are not properly maintained , they can end up making a mess of your paint... And you can say goodbye to the layer that protects your car from ultraviolet radiation, because the bristles of the rollers are completely abrasive for this type of treatment.
For all these reasons and more, it is always advisable to use specific products for each area of ββyour car, as they are formulated to clean π§Ό and protect π© the material on which they are applied. This way, you will ensure that the most delicate areas such as the bodywork, windows or rims are safe from these big monsters.
2. DON'T FORGET YOUR RIMS - DEGREAS AND CLEAN THE RIMS BEFORE WASHING
Like when you leave the house convinced that you have everything with you, and just when you close the door you remember that you have forgotten your keys inside. π€¦ββοΈ This is the same feeling as when you are cleaning your vehicle, and you have not remembered to degrease and clean the rims .
In the end, they are the ones that suffer the most from dirt over time, since they are constantly exposed to the ground, so they are more easily affected by dirt, dust, rain, grease and brake pad residue.
For this reason, it is very important that you pamper them with special products for the area and that you do it before washing the rest of the vehicle , and this way you will avoid water marks remaining in the area and you will remove any possible remains of the product that may have been hidden by the wheels.
We know that you would never use products like oven cleaner (ahem, ahem...) because we know perfectly well that when choosing products, you make sure that the chemical cleaner is not too abrasive π© . Also, especially if you do your detailing ritual outside the home, it is important that you keep in mind that the temperature of the areas where you are going to apply the products is not too high as we have already mentioned in previous blogs.
3. DO NOT BRING THE PRESSURE GUN TOO CLOSE - KEEP A MINIMUM DISTANCE
Summer is the perfect time to show off your car/motorcycle and go to the car wash to pamper it, but before you can make a mess, you should be very careful with both the water sprayer and your vehicle (Not to give you ideas, but we don't recommend that you go and wet anyone with pressurized water either) π¦
If you want your car's paint and tires to last a long time (we hope so), you should leave a minimum distance of about 30 cm π from the tip of the lance to your vehicle and not spray for more than 5 seconds β on the same area to prevent the high pressure at which the water is sprayed from damaging it.
And that's it for your weekly dose of favorite detailing tricks! With these little tips we hope to have resolved some of your doubts and that you put them into practice the next time you go to the car wash, and avoid rollers without proper maintenance. πββοΈ
